On May 30th, Team Slow Growth Urbanism (Juurlink [+] Geluk, Fakton en Juli ontwerp en advies) organized the first SGU mini-symposium in Hotel New York, Rotterdam. Nick de Lotbiniere of Savills in London led the afternoon with a fascinating lecture about the English practice of "Bottom up" and "Top down" approaches in urban design. His conclusion of a "bottom-up" approach in real estate and area development provoked three round table discussions on design, process and finances. Participants from the field of design, real estate development, government and research investigated together into a new, integrated way of working where flexibility, organic growth and the final user are the starting point. Soon we will launch the SGU website with more information about this initiative. http://www.slowgrowthurbanism.nl/
